CCD Camera Test System
This system is able to measure the MTF of a CCD camera and lens in combination. The MTF measured is the product of the MTF of the CCD sensor and of the imaging lens. The MTF of the lens may also be measured without the camera, and in this way the MTF of the CCD sensor alone may be deduced.
The camera is mounted on a motorised swinging arm, and test pattern stepped over the region of interest to generate a Line Spread Function. The MTF is calculated from the LSF data in the usual way.
An alternative technique allows the MTF of the camera to be calculated and displayed in real-time for focussing and alignment purposes.
The system is best suited to the measurement of digital cameras.
